Inverroche is a family company, founded in 2011 by its present CEO Lorna Scott. For three years, Lorna and her son tried out various plant extracts from the area surrounding the distillery, to create the perfect combination for three unique gins they could relate to. Each one of them tells the story of three special terroirs from the eco-region of Cape Floral Kingdom, located in the Western Cape of South Africa.
This area of lush flora counts over 9500 different species of plants and vegetation including Fynbos, the endemic plants distilled to produce the Inverroche gins.
Inverroche’s name was created combining two words that pay tribute to Lorna Scott’s roots: the Scottish word “Inver” meaning ‘a confluence of water’, which refers to the place where the Goukou river meets the Indian Ocean, and the French word “Roche”, meaning ‘rock or stone’, to evoke the limestone rock present to a large extent in the region of the distillery. These two elements (water and rock) are the very elements that have come together to create the conditions necessary for the lush flora used to make Inverroche.
